Identifying Illegal Vapes

Identifying Illegal Vapes

Vaping has an instrumental role to play in helping to make smoke free ambitions a reality and there is a growing library of evidence to support vaping as a significantly less harmful alternative to smoking.

To date, some 5.2 million adults have used vaping to cut down on or stop smoking in Great Britain alone.

Sadly, there are some unscrupulous sellers who are casting a negative light on the sector by selling non-compliant products and it is important that vapers, new and existing, can identify which products are legal and which are not.

Be Vape Vigilant

If you suspect a retailer of stocking illegal vapes or selling to minors, you can file a report through the UKVIA’s Be Vape Vigilant portal. All submissions are passed onto the relevant authority to be used as part of intelligence-led enforcement. Don’t let rogue retailers fly under the radar!

Red Flag Checklist

To help you ensure the vapes you are using are legal, we have developed an easy to remember guide of ‘Red Flags’ to look out for. If a vape fails any of these checks, it may well be non-compliant. If you suspect a vape you have purchase is not up to regulation, we always recommend that you avoid using it.
